Where To Ski In The Berkshires

New England is speckled with ski mountains, and some of the charming ones are just minutes away from Warm Welcome Great Barrington in the Berkshires including Ski Butternut, right here in Great Barrington. So grab your skis, or board, and get ready for a lovely day skiing in New England followed up by aprés-ski in town or at home for your cozy Warm Welcome stay.

Located just around the corner from Warm Welcome Great Barrington (your view from the kitchen bistro is the back of the mountain!) Ski Butternut is home to 22 trails, ten ski lifts, two terrain parks, a tubing area, and a ski school. This is a family friendly ski mountain in the Berkshires but it’s also got enough going on to give every ski bunny a great day of New England skiing. After a few runs, take a break at any of their three eating locations – The Clubhouse, The Upper Restaurant, and The Chute – and enjoy casual fare and drinks including beer and wine.

Catamount sits on the border of Massachusetts and New York, just 15 minutes west of Warm Welcome Great Barrington. Recently renovated in 2018, Catamount boasts 36 runs, seven lifts, and two terrain parks. Catamount features several casual dining options, including some of our favorite aprés-ski spots – tacos and tequila at Fat Cat and some post-slope bbq at Campfire. With some of the best steeps in southern New England, as well as several intermediate and beginner trials, Catamount is perfect for your entire group even if you’re skiing with kids in the Berkshires.

Just north of Pittsfield, and about 45 minutes north from Warm Welcome Great Barrington, lies one of the gems of Berkshire skiing – Jiminy Peak. The largest ski and snowboard resort in southern New England, Jiminy Peak has 45 trails, including 21 that are lit for night skiing, and seven lifts. After you work up an appetite on the slopes, get cozy at rustic Christiansen’s Tavern or John Harvard’s Restaurant and Brewery.

These three mountains are just some of the slopes available near your home-away-from-home, Warm Welcome Great Barrington, but they’re some of our favorites! Grab your best snow bunny gear and book your stay at Warm Welcome Great Barrington during the New England ski season.
